Description

Based on the 'Player's Maze' level of Planescape: Torment.

The City of Sigil sits at the centre of the Planes, and is ruled by the enigmatic and infamous Lady of Pain. Those who meet with her displeasure, through any number of obscure infactions, not least of all worshiping her, are often 'dissappeared' into curious pocket dimensions fashioned into mazes. Each of these personal prisons has a way out, assuming the prisoner is cunning enough to discern it...

I did try adding twiddley bits in Photoshop on top, but they all looked rubbish. Quite tricky to post-process Terragen images once the haze and lighting have been rendered. Also, I didn't have the patience to render it in 1024x768. Quite like the effect anyway though.

First dabblings with Terragen (which is quite fun); terrain-map made in Photoshop.

(This is probably common knowledge, but I'll put a mini-tutorial here anyway:

1. Create the terrain image in PS, in white, on a black background. White areas will become high terrain or peaks, black areas will be sea level. (Or in colour, then switch mode to Grayscale)

2. Resize the image to 257 x 257 pixels. (Terragen doesn't seem to let you specify terrain import size.)

2. Flip the Canvas Veritcally.

3. Flatten and Save As RAW format. (Non-interlaced)

4. In Terragen, in the Landscape window, Import RAW (8 Bits) and pick the RAW file.

5. Carry on in Terragen as normal.

There may be easier ways using plugins and whatnot, but this worked for me.)
